Spanish-language newspaper El Diario and City College have created a bilingual social studies curriculum that will be taught to sixth- through 12th-grade students in New York City. El Diario articles that cover the city’s Latino history from the past 100 years, plus English and Spanish texts, will be used as resources. The recently announced program was piloted in a government class at Gregorio Luperon High School for Science and Mathematics, a school that serves Latin-American immigrants.
